How to Root Your Droid Razr! [Android 2.3.6][6.12.173]

For those of your trying to root your Droid Razr (or Droid 3, Droid 4, Droid Bionic), here’s how to root it on the latest Gingerbread Android 2.3.6.  (It should also work on all versions of Gingerbread.  If you are on an older version and for some reason it didn’t work, you can follow the older root method).

Also, this is completely safe to do, at the worst you will have no root but should root your device so long as you are on Gingerbread.

How to Unroot/Unbrick Your Rooted Droid Razr Back to Android 2.3.6![6.12.173]

For those of you who want to unroot or “unbrick” your Droid Razr completely back to stock Android 2.3.6, there’s an easy way to do this.

If for some reason you bricked your Droid Razr or you need to return it to Verizon for warranty, this can help you get it fully unrooted back to stock.

This will wipe your personal settings and data (not photos/videos though) so be warned before you begin! And this is ONLY for Verizon CDMA Droid Razr!

You can always reset your Droid Razr by holding down the Volume Down and Power button together at any time. This will simply reset your phone. (e.g. frozen screen)

RAZRX ROM for Rooted Droid Razr!

After using my stock Droid Razr for quite a bit, I finally got my first custom ROM running on it, the RAZRX ROM.  This is a fairly stock ROM but with debloated apps, zipaligned, and other small improvements over stock.  You can expect pretty much stock experience plus faster speeds and better battery life.

How to Backup/Restore Rooted Stock ROM on Rooted Droid Razr!

If you want to install a new, custom ROM on your newly rooted Droid Razr, I HIGHLY ADVISE you to make at least one backup of your rooted stock ROM.  This backups up everything including your ROM/Kernel, apps, and settings.

If somewhere down the line you mess up and brick your phone, having this backup will save the day instead of hunting down unbricking methods (which I will have also on this site later down the line but please don’t count on that).

How to Install SafeStrap on Rooted Droid Razr! [Recovery]
